FMC’s state of the art Subsea Control Modules (SCMs), are more advanced and flexible than previous generations. FMC’s standard SCMs are available in various sizes and functionality. All common standard industry interfaces are supported. They support traditional interfaces as well as:
- Ethernet (TCP/IP)
- Fiber optical communication (1 gigabit per second)
- IWIS interface CAN-bus interface SIL rated solutions 1, 2 and SIL 3
FMC SCMs are backwards compatible and upgradeable with improved communication. Each module is configurable and offers improved reliability. Other features are:
- Backwards compatible with previous generations
- Electric actuators may be controlled in parallel with traditional hydraulic actuators
- A dedicated card handles all SIL3 applications including Process Shut Down and HIPPS
- Utilizing comms-on-power, the Multi Range Modem allows communication at 56 Kilobits for up to 250 kilometers
- A built-in DSL modem can be used during workover as well as extended Ethernet Subsea communication
- The modular system includes a configuration board for in-field modifications
- Enhanced thermal and vibration handling properties of the unit
- Subsea Router Module transfers information and provides multiple power-line-output switching
