Brazil, Santos Basin, Block BS-400
Landmark: Petrobras Mexilhão is the first high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) subsea system in Brazil.
The Mexilhão field is located in the Santos Basin, Sao Paulo State, about 100 miles (160 km) offshore. The Mexilhão gas subsea production system is rated for 10,000 psi and 300 F (149 C) qualifying as Brazil’s first HPHT subsea project. FMC’s subsea control module incorporates a High Integrity Pipeline Protection Control System (Subsea HIPPS) with autonomous logic for monitoring the pressure sensors and activating the closing of the vertical tree valves and/or manifold valves to protect the subsea gas pipeline.
