Statoil Norne

Statoil Norne

Norway Blocks 6508/1 and 6608/10

Landmark: Statoil's first horizontal 7" subsea tree

The Norne Subsea development was designed for diverless installation and maintenance. Completion and intervention tools were run on guidelines. An existing intervention tool package was used. The Norne subsea production system comprises five templates: three for production, one for water injection and one for water alternating gas injection. Each template has four slots and access for future satellite wells. The templates are tied back to a production vessel (FPSO) by two production lines, one gas and one water-injection line and three multifunction control umbilicals.

The project was executed as an EPC contract under Statoil’s integrated team philosophy. Main themes were system simplification and cost reduction. Technical systems are based on field-proven solutions. The templates were secured to the seabed by suction anchors. Horizontal subsea trees were used for increased production and easier well access.
