ExxonMobil Zafiro

Equatorial Guinea Block B

Landmark: World’s first major development achieving concept to first oil in 18 months

Discovered in 1995, the Zafiro field is located on Block B approximately 40 miles (65 km) northwest of Equatorial Guinea in water depths of 1,400 to 2,800 ft (425 to 850 m). Production from the Zafiro Field began in August 1996. Current facilities include a fixed platform, a floating production unit, a floating storage and offloading unit and both platform and subsea wells.

By the time Zafiro Phase I was under way, it became obvious that an expansion would be inevitable. Phase II involved bringing another 16 subsea wells online, bringing daily production from 40,000 bopd to 120,000 bopd. Phase IIB saw the installation of five additional subsea wells for water injection and expanded electrical generation capacity.

Ekanga Notch consists of five subsea trees. Production from Ekanga Notch brings total production to 150,000 bopd.
