ExxonMobil Zafiro Southern Expansion Area (SEA)

ExxonMobil Zafiro Southern Expansion Area SEA

Equatorial Guinea Block B

Landmark: ExxonMobil’s first subsea early-production system

The Zafiro field, located on Block B, is 40 miles (65 km) northwest of Equatorial Guinea in water depths of 1,400 to 2,800 ft (425 to 850 m). The latest development, known as the Zafiro Southern Expansion Area, utilizes a turret-moored FPSO as a host, which is expected to recover about 150 mmbo.

The subsea systems contract calls for the supply of 19 subsea trees, five HOST® and production manifold systems, a water-injection manifold, topside and subsea control systems and related equipment and services. Equipment deliveries and installation activities commenced in March 2002.

Production from the Southern Expansion Area has significantly enhanced the strong performance of the Zafiro area and added to the overall production in the region. This new project demonstrates the continuing commitment of ExxonMobil and FMC Technologies to Equatorial Guinea and the Africa Region.
