This technology is normally applied for the separation of gas from a liquid dominant multiphase stream. The InLine DeGasser is a pipe sement that first ensures extraction of the gas in from the liquid to produce a single phase liquid flow. Secondly, it ensures scrubbing of the separated gas such that a high quality single phase gas stream also escapes the unit. It is therefore a very compact separation tool to produce both high quality gas and liquid single phase streams.
Application
The InLine DeGasser can be used in all kinds of applications where the operator wants to have a compact separation of the gas from a liquid dominant multiphase stream. To achieve the first stage gas-liquid separation at an upstream processing facility, it has been installed directly in a wellstream. The InLine DeGasser has also been installed to separate gas from a water stream as part of the produced water handling package.
Features and Benefits
-
Compact: It offers an ultra compact method to achieve phase separation of a liquid dominant multiphase stream and installs easily into existing facilities as well as into the design of more compact new build processes.
-
Piping Code: Design is done according to piping code and there is no need for pressure vessel design codes. Compared to conventional vessel based solutions, this enables a much more compact total system as less additional equipment is required for the process system.
-
Short Delivery Time: The delivery time is short from order to installed equipment. The piping used is the long lead item, and has a substantially shorter lead time than conventional separator vessels.
-
Increased Production: Installation can easily be achieved in existing processes to enable debottlenecking and increased production rates.
-
Operating Flexibility: The technology is capable of handling inlet flow transients. It has already been in long-term operation at applications installed directly in multiphase wellstreams as the first stage separator at the processing facility.
-
Robust: Can be designed with no narrow openings and is therefore robust with respect to any potential clogging and foaling. There are also no elements that can fail due to erosion/wear.
-
Proven Technology: Several units have been in operation for many years with no failure.
Performance
The technology has the capability to simultaneously produce both high quality single phase gas and liquid streams. It applies cyclonic separation to generate high G-forces and achieve high separation performance, even in difficult operating conditions. This includes applications with viscous liquids. The design allows separation of 95 percent to 99.5 percent of the liquid in the inlet gas stream. The outlet gas stream can be constructed for a very low liquid-in-gas content which is of a similar quality as conventional gas scrubbers.
