Laboratory Testing

In-house testing

To ensure our designs are as robust and efficient in practice as they are on paper, we conduct rigorous tests under operating conditions, in-house as well as on-site.

Our head quarter in Arnhem, the Netherlands, houses the leading separation laboratory for testing of separation and sand handling solutions. References include some of the most challenging projects in the industry, including the technology qualification programs for the Statoil Tordis, Total Pazflor and Petrobras Marlim Subsea Separation Systems. It is applied for both in-house product development and qualification programs with en users. We have capabilities to test at realistic scale and fluid properties and the automatic control system enables real oil field conditions. Extensive analysis methodology for detailed quantification of process performances available on site, including:

  • Online droplet and particle size measurements
  • Online OiW measurements
  • Lab bench for OiW and WiO measurements
  • Online GVF measurement

Our extensive in-house test facilities contain:

  • A three phase small scale test loop mainly used for testing under atmospheric conditions. The total liquid capacity is a maximum of 100 m3/hr (15,100 bbl/d) with a maximum of 50 m3/hr (7,550 bbl/d) per phase.
  • A three phase large scale test loop capable of simulating gas flows of 3200 am3/hr (equivalent to 160 MMSCFD with an SG of 0.7) up to a gas density of 50 kg/m3 (3.1 lb/ft3). The total liquid capacity is a maximum of 800 m3/hr (120,800 bbl/d) with a maximum of 400 m3/hr (60,400 bbl/d) per phase.

We are well known for tailor making test systems to fit special applications. We have a large number of instrumentations, pumps and other critical components that enables us to arrange test set-ups for special applications at low cost and in a short time frame. We work closely with operators to define test procedures and requirement for documentation of both the test work and the performance evaluation. Most of our test loops uses an integrated active control system that enable us to validate realistic operational procedures as well as logging all necessary data, providing detailed reporting to the customer.
