FMC’s newly announced plans with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) to build a world-class technology center in Brazil is the latest in a series of endeavors to broaden its reach in the development of technologies and expertise aimed at meeting the specific needs of our customers. “This contract provides FMC an expanded presence in Brazil and the ability to play a significant role in the development of technologies for Brazil’s deepwater and pre-salt environments,” said John Gremp, FMC’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “The location of the Technology Center, inside the University campus, will create a collaborative environment and enable access to the very best of Brazil’s academia.”

South American Technology Center Located in Rio de Janeiro, the center will encompass more than 220,000 square feet and supports three main disciplines including engineering, research and development; product qualification laboratories; and assembly, test and system integration testing. The assembly and test space will accommodate large systems such as manifolds, controls and subsea processing equipment and enables safe dock side transport. The facility is expected to open in the first half of 2011.

European Technology Center Headquartered in Kongsberg, Norway, the European Technology Center serves as the anchor of FMC Technologies’ efforts to support system developments throughout the region. The Center supports a number of technical specializations, including Increased Oil Recovery (IOR), subsea controls, optoelectronics and subsea separation.

North American Technology Center With a focus on pioneering the next generation of subsea solutions, FMC Technologies expanded its R&D network in 2009 with the addition of the North American Technology Center in Houston, Texas. The center supports operators in the Gulf of Mexico and also serves as FMC’s global hub for the development of concepts and hardware that will significantly reduce the total cost of ownership of onshore, offshore and subsea fields during their producing life. Specializations include HP/HT, sealing and valve technology. | |
