Field Support
The MPM meter is highly tolerant to configuration parameter deviations. It offers the most lean and simple field configuration there is - and if applicable, the full configuration can be done at the factory prior to delivery. In order to facilitate a smooth commissioning and start-up of the units, FMC Technologies offers assistance by metering specialists. If desired by the customer, FMC Technologies personnel will also be available during the final stages of installation. During commissioning, operational training is provided to the operators.

The standard commissioning procedure covers:
  • Inspection of mechanical and electrical installation
  • Power-up
  • Communication check

Remote Operation
The MPM meter can be placed on a network and accessed over a standard internet connection to allow secure remote operation for operators and metering experts to monitor the performance of the wells.

All MPM meters can be connected to the FMC Technologies operation centre. From this centre, FMC Technologies offers a set of value-added service, based on analysis of measurements and meter performance. With the unique In-Situ verification tools FMC Technologies is using extra equations, redundant measurements and statistics to verify that the measured value are correct.

Flow Meter Testing Laboratory
The FMC Technologies flow laboratory is designed to enable development and testing of flow meters at field-like conditions. The lab is made to facilitate tests to be done over a large variety of flow regimes, such as: multiphase slugflow, annular flow and mixed flow. At wetgas conditions annular flow can be created with the addition of liquid droplets and film of different sizes. Oil, gas and water flow rates can be varied over a large span. The highly accurate reference instrumentation is calibrated by third parties on a regular basis.

Test and training facilities
FMC Technologies offers flow tests as part of the standard Factory Acceptance Test, and the test matrix is made to reflect the flowrates the meter will see in its real life application. The flow laboratory is also the key tool for training of field engineers and operators. Comprehensive testing The flow lab was FMC Technologies' “work bench” and the key tool used for developing MPM base technology and the associated products. During the development phase, thousands of tests were performed at the full operating range of the lab. The automatic logging systems are connected to a set of computer tools to enable efficient analysis and presentation of the results.

In-situ Verification Services

In-Situ verification services are available for all MPM meters linked up to FMC Technologies operations centre via the internet.  From this centre, FMC Technologies offers a set of value-added services using on-line monitoring of meter operation and performance. With the unique In-Situ verification tools FMC Technologies is capable to monitor and verify the performance of the meters in the field, with no physical presence at site or any assistance from the operator of the field. As a result of the verification services, the operator will regularly receive a written report. The report can be used to verify towards partners and authorities that the meter performs as per specifications and requirements. The In-Stu verification Services require that the MPM meter be placed on a network and accessed over a standard internet connection to allow secure remote operation, and operators and metering experts to monitor the performance of the wells. All MPM meters can be connected to the FMC Technologies operation centre. From this centre, FMC Technologies offers a set of value-added service, based on analysis of measurements and meter performance.

The In-Situ verification consists of two parts:
  • Verification that the meter hardware and software are working properly
  • Verification of the configuration data and suggested corrections in input PVT properties

Well Testing
FMC Technologies can provide multiphase meters for well testing purposes, which is a more efficient and safer way to conduct well testing than using conventional test separators (vessels). 

All FMC Technologies High Performance Meters used for well testing services comes with full MPM metering technology options and have HP/HT design specifications. The meter body is machined out of one solid block of steel and there are no rotating parts, seals or gaskets. All wetted parts are made of Inconel 625 material and the MPM meter is therefore safe to use on wells with high concentration of H2S and CO2 and complies in full with the latest NACE MR0175 standard. The accuracy, sensitivity and repeatability of the MPM High Performance Meter are far better than any conventional multiphase meter or test separator.

Hyperbaric Test
FMC Technologies offer hyperbaric testing of 3’rd party equipment at our hyperbaric pressure testing facility in Stavanger. The test facility is built for a maximum operating pressure of 400 bars. The test chamber has an internal diameter of 1500 mm with a useable length of 4000 mm. This allows for pressure testing most transducer assemblies, valves, and other various subsea equipment. 
Assemblies of up to 12 tons can be handled by the facility. The hyperbaric facility offers penetrator openings through the top end cap. We use Siemens ODI connectors that provide serial and ethernet communication to the devices being tested. These connectors also supply 24 – 36 VDC to power any device. Hire rates are based on half, full-day or longer periods as required. 

Training
FMC Technologies offers a dedicated set of training programs for users of the MPM products, to ease start-up and secure successful operation of the meters. 
The programs are designed for users at different levels. The programs normally run for one and a half to two days. 

Objectives 
  • Achieve a good understanding of the MPM meter operating principles, as well as the unique capabilities and the benefits of the MPM meter 
  • Learn how to efficiently use the MPM meter in real applications, including analyzing data, monitor well behaviour and learning more about the well and reservoir characteristics. 
  • Get hands-on experience in using the meter under real flowing conditions (MPM flow lab)
