FMCÂ Technologies provided the coal handling system to the Chambers Works Cogeneration Plant in Carney's Point, NJ.
The plant consists of two units producing 269 MW of electricity. Coal is delivered to the facility by train and unloaded into the unloading hopper. From the unloading hopper, the coal is withdrawn by an apron feeder to a stackout conveyor at a rate of 1,000 TPH. The stackout conveyor discharges the coal into a lowering well to form an 8,000 ton capacity coal pile.
The coal is then reclaimed by a series of vibratory feeders that transfer it to a reclaim conveyor at a rate of 500 TPH. The reclaim conveyor discharges the coal into a surge bin and then, the coal is reclaimed and conveyed to the silo bay by means of a transfer conveyor. The coal is finally discharged into the coal silos by two 500 TPH silo feed tripper conveyors.
