Greenshoots Fund – Our Commitment to the Environment
The Greenshoots Fund is an innovative pioneering project developed by FMC Technologies which aims to deliver real benefits to communities.
A leader in the industry, Greenshoots is designed to partially mitigate the environmental impact resulting from the manufacture, sale and distribution of our core product – large installations known as subsea trees placed below sea level − used in the extraction of oil and gas.
Developing relationships with communities and enhancing the local areas in which we operate are two of our core values, and Greenshoots will continue this work by directly funding local projects to help reduce carbon emissions, delivering real economic benefits.
Revenue for the fund is generated from two main sources – a levy paid by us on our staff air travel and by voluntary contributions from customers when they purchase our products.
An independent steering group manages Greenshoots to ensure the money collected is used to fund a portfolio of projects that maximise environmental benefits. Examples of projects we are looking to fund include local community energy schemes or local housing upgrades to create more energy efficient buildings.
The steering group includes representatives from our customers and FMC Technologies, along with experts in the fields of sustainability and finance. They will all be involved in reviewing applications to the fund, selecting the best projects to be funded and overseeing the performance of projects.
A local charity partner helps the steering group identify projects and manage the distribution of funds. This expertise from the non-profit sector will give the steering group valuable experience to assist in funding decisions.
