FMC offers two products specifically designed for Oil on Water Monitoring. Oil on water refers to oil that has separated to the water surface such as in sumps and oil/water separators. These are used where trace oil is tolerated but any accumulation of oil on the water surface should be monitored for a spill alarm or pump control requirements.
For separated Oil-on-Water applications, FMC offers the HSS 1046 Hydrocarbon Float Sensor. This floating sensor monitors the surface of water in sumps, tanks, and lagoons to alert when oil has separated to the water surface. This is typically used to alert for spills or control pumps.

The HSS 1056 monitors a floating sensor on the water surface to indicate the thickness of separated oil. An LCD display of the thickness, analog output and relay alarms are standard.
