Safety and health

At FMC Technologies, the health and safety of our employees and their families, our customers, contractors, visitors and communities are of the utmost importance, and we have established programs to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect them.

Destination Zero

The Destination Zero program is our commitment to safety and a focus on our common goal as a company: zero safety incidents, worldwide, every day. We expect all employees to use these three key safety behaviors:

Prevention

Prevent

Safety incidents by refusing to do work perceived to be dangerous to our personal health or safety

Report

Report

Situations that have the potential to harm an employee, partner, or someone in our community

Intervene

Intervene

Without hesitation to stop a job or any unsafe behavior

Measuring progress

In order to judge our improvements over time, we take care to measure the following:

Lost Workday and Recordable Incident Rates
Recognized as a key metric for tracking safety performance, Lost Workday and Recordable Incident Rates measure the impact and frequency of safety incidents.

Incident evaluation
We also measure the severity of safety incidents on a scale; with red incidents indicating high probability of a serious incident, yellow indicating less serious, and green indicating a minor incident. Both "near miss" and actual incidents are reported using this scale.

Focused prevention
In addition, we recognize there are specifc areas within our operations that need special attention: hand and finger injuries; dropped objects; accidents involving high pressure; and automotive accidents.
