FMC Technologies was awarded a pilot project for the design, manufacturing, and installation of a water injection system.   The criticality of the system was that the injection rate of the system was not totally defined and the system needed to be extremely flexible as far as displacement of the pumps. FMC Technologies, in conjunction with the operator, various vendors, technical staff, and our pump systems group developed the pictured layout for this pilot system.

The system consists of two 300HP triplex pumps powered by Waukesha Natural Gas Engines. The heart of the system is in the Hydraulic Variable speed drive that gives infinite turndown capability for the pumps. This allows the Burren field engineers to displace at more than a 20:1 turndown until they determine the injection rate for each well. All components of the system were  sourced and installed into this package at our Stephenville, Texas facility. We also completed a full Factory Acceptance Test at our Stephenville facility in January of this year and will be shipping this to the operator for commissioning this summer.
