Comments
The North East Frigg is a satellite gas field located 18 km (11 miles) from the giant Frigg field and was discovered in 1974. Its development started in 1980 and it was put onstream in 1983. This project was a cornerstone for the industry because it was Norway’s first subsea completion system.
North East Frigg consisted of a template with six (6) wells and a field control station. The control station, which was used for sending control signals between North East Frigg and Frigg, consisted of a deck and a 126 m (410 ft) high-steel column which was fixed to a concrete base. The gas line went directly from the template to the Frigg Centre. A methanol line and an electric cable line linked the field to the Frigg Centre. In addition, there were umbilicals linking the template to the control station.
The North East Frigg Field was shut down in 1993 after 10 years of high operational reliability. The removal of the templates took place in 1996.
