Comments

ChevronTexaco’s (Chevron) Nemba Field is located in 120 m (390 ft) of water about 60 km (40 miles) off the coast of the Cabinda Province in exploration Block B offshore Angola.

FMC was responsible for the Early Production System (EPS), which represents the initial phase of the South Nemba and Lomba Oil subsea development project.

Chevron enhanced existing technology and installed a subsea completion arrangement capable of producing up to 20,000 bopd from three (3) wells drilled into the Pinda formation. Production was maintained at or near that level for the 2-1/2 years prior to installation of the South Nemba and Lomba platforms in 1998. The EPS approach was devised to achieve early production while permanent production facilities were fabricated and installed. In the interim, crude was produced to a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the S.S. Jamestown, where it was processed and sent via a subsea pipeline to the Malongo terminal. First production through the two (2) platforms was achieved in the latter part of 1998.
