The most significant enhancements of the EHXT system are the tubing hanger and tree cap designs. The traditional pressure-containing internal tree cap has been eliminated, and its pressure containing barriers have been moved to the tubing hanger. This enables the tree cap to be installed by ROV off the drilling rig's critical path, after the BOP has been disconnected from the tree. The result is the most cost-effective and reliable horizontal completion system available in the industry today.
- 5" x 2" 15K, 5" x 2" 10K and 7" x 2" 5K designs. The 10K and 5K systems can suspend 7" tubing strings.
- Elimination of the traditional pressure containing internal tree cap.
- ROV tree cap is run with the tree.
- Relocation of the pressure barriers historically contained within the internal tree cap to the TH.
- Reduction in installation times by two days (or more) with the elimination of the internal tree cap installation via the landing string.
- Reduction in installed capital expenditures (CAPEX) and increase in safety by only running the Subsea Test Tree (SSTT) system once.
- Improved safety by only running the SSTT once. Minimized work on the rig floor reduces the possibility of a safety incident.
- Simplifies the interface with the SSTT and BOP stack by requiring only one stack-up mode (SSTT only used for TH installation).
- Elimination of one complete "rig-up" and "rig-down" cycle of the wireline equipment by installing the wireline plugs in a back-to-back fashion.
- ROV installed tree cap eliminates the cleanliness issues of the marine riser as well as problems associated with debris build-up preventing the internal tree cap from landing and locking.
- Provides a redundant lockdown of the TH lock mechanism during normal production.
- 18-3/4" hydraulic set enhanced horizontal tubing hanger system that incorporates both upper and lower wireline plugs.
- GLL installation and retrieval of tree and BOP.
- 10,000 ft. water depth ratings.
- FMC M3000 hydraulically actuated gate valves with ROV operated linear override capability.
FMC offers 5" x 2" EHXT enhanced horizontal subsea trees in 10,000 psi and 15,000 psi pressure ratings, in standard and drill-through configurations. The drill-through system allows a 13-3/8" casing hanger to be installed and retrieved through the tree, thereby facilitating the drilling of wells where "light architecture" casing programs can be utilized. All EHXT trees are rated for up to 10,000 foot water depth.
Subsea operators have confidently selected the EHXT subsea tree for more than 150 well completions around the globe. The EHXT's tree's modular, standardized design and stocking program allow customized configurations to be readily produced for a wide variety of project-specific applications. The 10,000 psi EHXT tree system is about to be installed in a new world record water depth of over 9,000 feet for the Independence Hub development in the Gulf of Mexico.
