FMC Technologies supplied the limestone handling system for a new power plant in Mississippi.

The limestone is used to reduce the sulfur dioxide emissions by direct bed injection into two circular fluidized bed boilers burning Mississippi lignite.

The system includes limestone receiving, storage, drying and conveying equipment. The limestone is received and stored in a 400 T pre-engineered storage building.

The limestone is reclaimed by front end loader and fed by belt conveyor to a fluidized bed limestone dryer at a rate of 50 TPH at a maximum of 15 percent moisture. The fluidized bed dryer reduces the moisture to less thanĀ one percent. The limestone is then conveyed by screw conveyor to a pneumatic system that blows the material to the top of two 600 T each storage silos. Each silo is equipped with an aeration system to aid discharging of the limestone out of the silos to feed the boilers.

A dust collection system is also provided to remove fugitive dust as well as a means to properly vent the limestone fluidized bed dryer. The overall material handling system also includes a belt weigh scale and magnetic separator.
