Piggable Multidirectional Manifolds

In the oil industry as well as in the petrochemical & chemical industry, operations such as blending, packaging, loading and storage, often require multiple inter-connections between different product lines. FMC Technologies has used the very latest in research and technology to design a fully piggable Chiksan® multidirectional manifold, thus providing a modern and highly reliable customized alternative to hose manifolds.

FMC supplies patented manual and automatic multidirectional manifolds to ensure multiple piggable connections between in coming and outgoing lines. Using the very latest leading edge technology, Chiksan multidirectional manifolds are designed as modular frames to offer the solution best suited to your requirements. Each multidirectional manifold is custom built using proven components and is designed for operator safety including systems to eliminate any possibility of "pig-out". The automatic manifolds are controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller which can be installed locally or remotely and can be easily interfaced with any client plant-operating system / software.

Chiksan automatic multidirectional manifold
The Chiksan multidirectional manifold consists of two sets of jumper assemblies. One set moves horizontally and the other moves vertically such that any jumper of the horizontal set can be aligned with and connected to any jumper of the vertical set. Hydraulic couplers assure and signal a tight sealed connection between the jumpers and allows fluid transfer and full pigging through the manifold. In this way, any combination or permutation of simultaneous connections between the different jumpers can be achieved.

Compact automatic multidirectional manifold - MDM
The FMC Technologies MDM consists of a modular frame supporting a series of a horizontal and vertical spool pieces (rows and columns) which can be moved by hydraulic cylinders along guide rails in their two perpendicular planes. Any line of spool from one plane can thus be opened at the point which aligns with any line of spools from the other plane, and vice versa. The two selected lines (one horizontal, one vertical) can then be connected using a manipulator to insert a double-elbow spool at the opening point and then locked in position by reversal of the hydraulic cylinders.

Rotary multidirectional manifold
The Rotary multidirectional manifold is a patented design for a large diameter product lines and possible combinations. It can be manually operated and partially or fully automated.

 Manual multidirectional manifold - MM
The FMC manual manifold is a low-cost alternative to automatic versions. The manifold is designed to be fully manually operated with a configuration of jumper assemblies mounted along a rail and connected to a line fixed on the floor. An exclusive double ball valve ensures leak-free disconnection and eliminates any possibility of "pig-out", thus ensuring total operator and operations safety and security.

Automatised multidirectional manifold
This manifold retakes the same structure as the previous Manual Multidirectional Manifold in addition all its displacement are motorized
